Job Description

Project Manager Building Science

1. Conduct and supervise project coordinator field review/testing and data collection, design, report and specification preparation and contract administration.

Work may include:

– Collect field data and prepare Reserve Fund Studies and Capital Expenditure Plan Reports.

– Collect field data and prepare performance audit, technical/building audit or other investigative reports complete with observations, conclusions, recommendations and repair budgets.

– Collect field data and prepare repair specifications, drawings and tender documents.

– Conduct onsite quality control and adherence to prepared specifications.

– Provide project management and related contract administration. When required, the above may include liaison with the client, contractor, manufacturer, sub-consultant etc.

2. Assist with project technical support, guidance and review of completed work prior to delivery to the Client. Manager of Engineering (or Designee) must conduct final review of work to be delivered to the Client.

3. Promote team building, quality, public relations, enthusiasm, ethics, initiative and reliability from employees.

4. Provide periodic input to the sales and marketing plan of the department. Work with the Department Heads to identify and implement an effective plan.

5. Identify and regularly consult with various clients/ organizations of up-coming projects where a relationship has been established. Prepare, review (with department head) and present department specific proposals. Follow-up on prepared proposals, update proposal log and identify reasons for success/failure.

6. Assist with the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures for the department when requested.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Building Science Engineering

– Minimum of 7 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment managing building science/envelope or structural restoration projects

– P.Eng. designation

– Ability to provide leadership to junior engineers/technicians
