Bell Business Markets provides a vast array of communications solutions for small, medium, and large organizations. These include managed data and network solutions, cloud computing, conferencing, Web, security solutions and integrated information and communications technology (ICT) services.

The Business Intelligence Team within Bell Business Markets Division provides reporting and analytical insight to Marketing, Sales, and Service organizations to support day-to-day operations and strategic planning. The team plays an integral role in decision-making at multiple levels of management through complex analyses, predictive modeling, data definition and standardization, data mining, reporting, as well as sourcing external data from 3rd party relationships.

The Bell Business Markets team is looking for a Business Intelligence Specialist with a strong background in business intelligence and data management practices. Candidate should also be a process champion who would oversee key IT efficiency projects. The individual would be responsible for implementing the BI practices, and assisting in cross functional ad-hoc requests to support business decisions.

The Specialist will participate in the design, development, testing and maintenance aspects of business intelligence applications and processes, product pricing tools and customer price-books. He/She is also accountable for participating in BI activities related to the collection, review, cleansing, quality and reporting of key business metrics and the planning and creation of ETL processes and data warehouse.

Strong analytical skills, technical acumen and demonstrated experience in data gathering, data analysis, conceptual and logical models and physical data design are required. We are seeking a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and highly developed problem solving abilities.

Job duties / accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain business and competitive intelligence processes, tools and databases to support the development of product, customer and market segment strategies and programs within Bell Business Markets
  • Plan and execute the creation of a Datamart for BBM – to support ETL processes
  • Design, develop, test and maintain product pricing tools and customer price books based on customer specific requirements (location, speed, etc.)
  • Assist Product Management and Sales with developing responses to complex bids
  • Lead the planning, identification, development and implementation of design and/or changes to key reports and ad hoc requests
  • Ensure outputs are delivered accurately and within agreed-upon timelines
  • Present key findings to management teams and business stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery of BI insights to business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities to apply new BI insights to various areas of the organization
  • Provide technical expertise and implement BI best practices
  • Act as steward for standards around data model, data dictionary and implementation of business rules and definitions
  • Rationalize new data requirements to avoid data duplication

Essential skills / competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science along with 2-5 years of related experience
  • Experience in implementing successful data integration and data warehousing
  • Strong technical skills with all data driven technologies (TERADATA, SAS, Big Data, Oracle, APEX, MSSQL)
  • Strong knowledge of Telecommunication products and networks in Bell Business Markets
  • Past experience in project delivery in Agile method/Iterative approach
  • Strong understanding of data modeling skills (normalized and multidimensional)
  • Proven ability to manage in a complex matrix structure
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnership and client relationship
  • Solid business acumen – must be able to understand the key drivers of success and growth and redirect resources to deliver results
  • Experience with product pricing and costing techniques, concepts. and financial terms
  • Ability to manage and understand customers’ needs and able to find and process company data to support business decisions
  • Ability to deal effectively with ambiguous situations and short time frames
  • Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player and quick learner with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, be a self starter and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to lead and influence immediate and extended multi-disciplinary teams, including Sales, Finance, Operations, Network Planning, Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Help Desk, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, particularly in the area of customer and competitor/industry analysis, with an ability to extract strategic themes and quickly draw meaningful conclusions
  • Resourceful, autonomous, disciplined self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of an extended team

Preferred skills:

  • Advanced proficiency working with large databases and Enterprise Warehouse, SQL, SAS, VBA, PL-SQL, MSSQL, SSIS and GIS applications
  • Experience in data warehouse and datamart
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office
  • Other programming (Java, JavaScript, .Net)
  • Strong statistical, interpretative, analytical and problem-solving skills
