SharePoint Developer – UX/UI (Contract position – to June 4, 2018 – with the possibility of renewal) Developing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions will be an integral part of your job in this key role with the Peel District School Board’s Learning Technology Support Services team. Reporting to the Portal and Collaboration Team Leader, and showing your creativity as well as your user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design expertise, you will develop technically feasible software solutions by conferring and collaborating with stakeholders, IT Management and other team members, and studying requirements analysis, information needs, systems flow, data usage, and work processes. As a SharePoint Developer – UX/UI, you’ll be called upon to use software development fundamentals and processes as you debug, test and deploy software solutions, and develop new features or applications for websites, web and Mobile application from concept to finish, with regular tests and maintenance. Your analytical skills will prove invaluable in critically evaluating the information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, validating data and distilling high-level information into clear potential deliverables. Participating in Quality Assurance and Code Reviews, preparing documentation, and troubleshooting SharePoint sites will also be part of your duties. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS The role of SharePoint Developer – UX/UI will call into play your post-secondary education in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Graphic Design, or equivalent work background, combined with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in application development. You will also put to work the following knowledge and skill set: Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, and CSS3; client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery; cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them; as well as code versioning tools, including git. A proven track record of developing software, and web applications using JavaScript. Solid knowledge of JavaScript quirks and workarounds, JQuery, AJAX, SQL, and ORM technologies. 3 to 5 years’ hands-on experience developing and implementing SharePoint and/or JavaScript based solutions. Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, including LESS and SASS. Solid understanding of one or more JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, backbone, handlebars, react, and knockout. Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX. Proficiency in image manipulation and web optimization using such tools as Sketch, Gimp, or Photoshop. Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment. ASSETS: Strong knowledge of SharePoint Architecture, Object Model, SharePoint Templates, InfoPath, and SharePoint Features. Experience using SharePoint 2013, Nintex, C#, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, SOAP, REST, JQuery, Visual Studio 2012, SharePoint Designer, Team Foundation Server and PowerShell.
