Technical Support Specialist If you are a savvy troubleshooter with experience in technical support, consider applying your skills within the dynamic Learning Technology Support Service team at the Peel District School Board. Location: Team #2 (Eagle Plains P.S., Mount Royal P.S., Mountain Ash P.S., Shaw P.S., Treeline P.S.) Reporting to the PC/LAN Team Leader, you will provide application support and the maintenance and installation of computer hardware/software for the Peel District School Board’s Central Board Office, school offices, instructional classrooms, and field offices. Your technical and troubleshooting expertise will be essential in setting up and maintaining computer networks, implementing local area networks and providing on-going support for administrative computer systems. As a Technical Support Specialist, you will also support school staff by installing application software and operating system software, provide staff with technical assistance in the set-up and use of hardware and peripherals, and train school staff on software and hardware. In addition to assisting the Internetworking Team with installation and maintenance of communications equipment and the resolution of problems, you will perform routine maintenance on hardware and operating system software, direct equipment for repair and monitor the repair process, and test, debug and evaluate operating systems, applications software and user interfaces. This is a day-shift position and the 7 hours of work will be between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS As a Technical Support Specialist, you will put into practice your post-secondary education in an applicable discipline and a minimum of two years’ experience providing technical support in PC/LAN environments. You will also put into play your: Expertise with MS Windows, MS Office Suite, Apple technology, TCP/IP, wireless and ethernet networks, mobile technology, Active Directory and SCCM, and tablet technology Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with Board personnel and technical staff Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment Knowledge of MS SharePoint would be considered an asset.
