Major Duties & Responsibilities:* Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles prescribed by the regulatory authorities in the jurisdictions in which the company files its financial disclosures. Ensure compliance with the reporting standards and procedures mandated by the regulators* Compile and direct the preparation of the MD&A and parts of the related press release, ensuring completeness, accuracy and quality of the disclosures. Assists with the preparation and finalization of the company’s other continuous disclosure documents such as press release, AIF, sustainability report and Circular* Manage and improve a monthly internal report focused on providing financial and operating summary of the Company’s performance delivered to senior executives, with ability to explain results and trends, interpret variances from plans/expectations and prepare a written analysis of any findings* Review and enhance the state of internal controls framework at the corporate office and at the Company’s sites to determine reliability and effectiveness of financial systems and controls and compliance with the SOX Section 404* Assist with maintaining and enhancing accounting policies and process standards, as well as accounting interpretation of complex accounting issues* Oversee the corporate accounting function and provide necessary coaching and support* Oversee the preparation of supporting documents and working papers to the external auditors for quarterly review and annual audit* Assist the Controller with executing on the department objectives and the supervision, evaluation, and development of the accounting team* Plan and execute special projects as needed in the Finance GroupMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, or based on an individual’s status in any group or class otherwise protected under applicable human rights legislation. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled and all other qualified applicantsExperience, Qualifications & Education:* Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in financial reporting roles with mining industry and international experience (US regulatory and SOX experience highly preferred)* University bachelor’s degree required * CPA designation required* Continuing education in the areas of financial reporting, personnel management, project management is an on-going requirementSkills And Competencies:* Strong knowledge of IFRS, able to guide and lead the team in resolving and documenting different accounting issues* Experience with US and Canadian regulatory environments, able to develop and implement SOX-compliant processes or work with the vendor to troubleshoot financial system issues* Good leadership, interpersonal and coaching skills, with the ability to promote teamwork within the accounting team at the corporate office and across the accounting groups at the company’s various sites* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must have confidence to interact with senior management and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner* Focused on continuous improvement and dedicated to looking for different solutions and executing on ideas to enhance the status quo* Experienced in using advanced consolidation and reporting tools, ex.
