The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice President of Talent, the Manager, Learning & Development has responsibility for all aspects of learning agenda for our people. The scope of the role includes developing and executing learning initiatives targeting executive development, people managers, and individual contributors across various learning channels (Residential, Hybrid, Digital). The successful candidate will help develop a skilled based learning organization ensuring program offerings are scalable and learning in the flow of work is promoted. The Manager is also responsible for planning, executing and measuring the effectiveness of MLF’s Leadership programs as well as various functional development programs.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Support the VP, Talent in designing and executing the learning strategy for the organization.
- Build annual program calendar (workshops, webinars, etc.) and manage task list to ensure these programs deliver on time and on quality.
- Oversee the training and development of new hires, new leaders and other talent groups ensuring team members have the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.
- Undertake learning needs analyses for key groups, articulating and translating these needs into learning offerings or development recommendations.
- Work closely with HRBP Team, Business Leaders and other members of the HR function as needed to develop and execute high quality, sustainable learning and development programs and solutions across functions, driving relevant business focused learning outcomes.
- Develop & execute a training curriculum.
- Develop initiatives to improve employee usage and accessibility of existing learning programs and resources.
- Implement program improvements to ensure programs are delivered efficiently and participants experience a high-quality learning program that delivers business outcomes.
- As required, work with VP, Talent, 3rd party vendors and external institutions to develop best in class learning offerings for Maple Leaf including providing vendor performance per established SLA – sharing regular feedback on program outcomes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Connect people with content and experts using formal, informal, and social learning tools including face to face programming, peer coaching, mentoring, blogs and online forums.
- Design and develop effective and engaging content and materials, employing recognized adult learning principles.
- Facilitate learning sessions and events as required.
- Establish and lead the Learning Network, enabling shared knowledge across all existing learning groups (Operations, FSQA, IS, etc.)
- Proactively seek out the latest talent research, best practices, and identify key trends that will inform current and future learning programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- Post secondary education in HR, Learning or equivalent experience
- Experience in a corporate learning role and understanding of adult pedagogy strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization from senior executives to individual contributors (including plant leadership network)
- Highly motivated and results driven
- Ability to persevere through obstacles and challenges while maintaining positive approach
- Self-confident to work independently, with self-awareness to seek coaching and support when required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate small and large groups either in a meeting or workshop environment to achieve desired outcome
- Desire and ability to coach others
- Proven ability to deliver in a fast paced, dynamic business environment
- Experience in consumer-packaged goods or manufacturing an asset
